Paul Grant of New Gloucester is a proud father of four children. His 13-year-old son has Type 1 diabetes. Earlier this year, Paul was shocked to discover that it was going to cost him more than $900 for a 90-day supply of insulin. That’s more than three times what it once cost him to buy this medicine that his son needs to remain healthy. Paul shared his story at a Senate Aging Committee hearing that I chaired examining the skyrocketing price of this lifesaving medication. Although insulin was discovered nearly 100 years ago, the average price has increased dramatically in recent years, making it unaffordable for far too many Americans. Thank you, Paul, for sharing your story. I am committed to continuing to work to increase the affordability and accessibility of prescription drugs like insulin.
