Hustle Like Gary. 3 Productive Hustle Advice From Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary Vaynerchuk is one of the guys you want to listen to when it comes to hustling. He’s an entrepreneur, investor, author, public speaker, and internet personality. I remember stumbling on him when I was reading one of my favorite blogs back in 2015 before I started mine. I was like who is this “Hoodie wearing, blunt speaking entrepreneur who is constantly using the F word but making alot of sense”.

Who The Heck Is Gary Vaynerchuk?

Gary is a serial entrepreneur and and an early investor in companies such as Twitter, Tumblr, Venmo and Uber. Gary Vaynerchuk is a serial entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of VaynerMedia, a full-service digital agency servicing Fortune 500 clients across the company’s 4 locations. Gary rose to prominence in the late 90’s after establishing one of the first ecommerce wine sites, WineLibrary helping his father grow the family business from 4 to 60MM in sales. He’s my guy, and the guy that loves to say it as it is. Here are my top 3 advice from him I believe every hustler and entrepreneur should listen to.

Enjoy!

1. Bet On Your Strengths.

This is one of the best advice I have gotten from Gary – Betting on your strengths. A large percentage of people worry so much about the things they are not good at, I can’t code, I can’t design, I can’t draw, I can’t sing, I can’t…I can’t…I can’t, but spend little or no time accentuating what they are good at and this is key. You might not be able to code, but do you love writing or speaking?

That’s your strength, the idea is to spend more time improving and exercising that thing you are good at and spend little or no time talking about the things you suck at. This is what makes people unique, trying to be what you are not is trying to live someone else’s life, to be unique, you would need to double and triple down on the things you are good at and you will equally be happy doing this becomes it come natural to you.

Bet on your strengths, don’t give a f*ck about the shit you suck at – Gary Vaynerchuk.

2. Ideas are Shit, Execution is the game!

Alot of people have ideas, everybody has an idea but the people who go ahead to change the world with their ideas and in turn make money from it are the ones who Execute their ideas. The keyword here is Execution, the phone or computer you are currently reading this post on rightnow was once an idea in the mind of the inventor but it would have stayed an idea if it wasnt executed. We live in the generation where everyone thinks they have an idea that will change the world or make them a million dollar but they fail to go out and execute their idea because execution is hardwork, conceiving an idea doesn’t require any hardwork, executing it does and this is what stops a lot of people.

Execution is the game, whatever ideas you have will remain an idea and a figment of your imagination if you do not go out there today and start  putting the bricks together that will make that idea a success. Also, it is only in the execution that you will know for sure if the idea is actually a good one because a lot of ideas sounds so damn good in your head and when you tell it to yourself.

Its easier to dream about but much harder to execute it.Gary Vaynerchuk.

3. There is no “Overnight Success”

Obviously, Gary hates when people think successful people got lucky, they became successful by accident or it happened overnight for them. Everyone who has ever become successful in a particular field has had to hustle hard (not including the rich kids who got Daddy’s money), there is no such thing as overnight success, success takes time, patience and doing the little things that counts everyday. People get carried away with pointing fingers at successful people, saying – “He’s lucky, it happened overnight for him” when there is no such thing as “luck”, you create your own luck! And for every person who you think became successful overnight, there is a lot of behind the scenes hustle and grind that they had to put in to get to their “overnight success” Nothing in life is free, nothing happens overnight, it takes tons and tons of time and work, luck comes from being in the right place at the right time, you know what’s even funny? To be at the right place at right time means you are actually hustling and you are out there trying to get it.

No one comes and knocks on your door and says “Hey, you’ve been awarded this opportunity” even for you to win the lottery, you still need to have taken action in the first place by buying the ticket and playing the game. So nothing really just comes overnight, there is always some behind the scenes work that has gone into it.

Hoping and dreaming will result in nothing, executing against your skills is the road to success – Gary Vaynerchuk
